It's Old Fashioned Week

The 1st November marks the start of the 5th annual Old Fashioned week, an event launched in Paris in 2015 that has now become a global event. 2018's event saw a huge 1,300 bars participating from over 60 countries with an estimated 205,000 Old Fashioned's sold.

How to make a classic Old Fashioned

Glass: old fashioned / tumbler / rocks glass

40ml spirit.  Choose bourbon or rum, or even rye whiskey / Scotch whisky/cognac

2 dashes of ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters

1 sugar cube

1 sliver of orange zest

1 cocktail cherry.  Choose an authentic maraschino or amarena cherry.


Muddle the bitters and sugar with a splash of soda or flat water for 1 minute in the glass.  Add the spirit and fill the glass with ice.  Garnish with the orange zest and cherry.

The sensations of taste should be fruity and aromatic with citrus sweetness, whilst letting the pure, punchy spirit flavours shine through.

Generally, its requisites are that it is a short cocktail, and it should always be garnished.

Smokin Old Town

  • 50ml Bourbon
  • 7ml Funkin Pro Smoked Syrup
  • 2 dashes of ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters

Garnish with slightly burnt orange zest and a maraschino cherry


The Old Earl

  • 50ml Bourbon
  • 7ml Funkin Earl Grey Syrup
  • 2 dashes ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters

Garnish with a tea leaf, orange zest and a maraschino cherry


Hemp Old Fashioned

  • 50ml Bourbon
  • 7ml Funkin Hemp Syrup
  • 2 dashes ANGOSTURA aromatic bitters

Garnish with orange zest and a maraschino cherry
